This day may just down as one of my all time favorite beginnings to a new year. Why? It was pretty simple. The night before, we had enjoyed a wonderful New Year’s Eve with a good bunch of dear friends, so on 1-1-13 I woke up in a good mood. It got even better when the sun came up and unexpectedly filled a cloud free, bright blue sky, a phenomenon that is always appreciated here in the Pacific Northwest. After breakfast, my husband and I took our loyal mutt for a long walk on a deserted beach. And finally? Come dinnertime, I had a fridge full of curry feast leftovers from the party we had thrown night before! Yes, it was the perfect day and I soaked it all up. I think that’s one of the secret’s of successful aging – appreciating when things are good … so I am fortified for those inevitable times when things aren’t so rosy.
