I happily write this week in praise of “The ReBuilding Center” in Portland, Oregon.
(www. rebuildingcenter.org) A non-profit resource, they sell used building and remodeling materials. (They also salvage buildings that are being torn down.) From doors to plumbing, windows to lighting fixtures, they have it all. Truly, it’s the candy store of recycled materials! (We bought these leaded glass windows there – what a find!) Best of all, the money they make goes back into community programs. It’s a great concept all the way around. (Do you have something like this in your neighborhood? Let me know, I’d love to shine the light on similar businesses.)
