June 5 was World Environment Day (WED). Established by the United Nations in 1972, the goal of WED is to raise global awareness about our environment and to encourage people to take active steps to protect our environment. (It can feel like such an overwhelming task to care of Mother Earth but if you stop and consider the alternatives, do we really have any other choice?)
Perhaps you celebrated on June 5? If not, know that it’s never too late to make a positive contribution to the future of the planet and therefore, to the future of the human race.
Need some ‘how to help’ ideas? Check out the United Nations Environment Programme for a host of suggestions. (http://www.unep.org) Make sure you peruse the WED A-Z list. It will keep you busy for a good long time!
