My friend and I were leaving the restaurant the other night after dinner. Each of us had a container of food. The servings are always way too big for a couple of little old ladies! It works out because usually each of us gets another dinner out of it. But this evening we came across a homeless man. He was very nice, just said “good evening, ladies” as we walked by. It hit both of us at the same time – we didn’t need the food, he did. When we turned back and gave him the containers of our leftovers you’d have thought we’d presented him with a ten course meal. It was something so simple but we are going to make a practice of it now. It’s the least we can do.
